Enchanted Wetlands

It’s an enchanting place with the largest Cypress forest in the world with Spanish moss gently swaying in the breeze.  It’s wetlands, the swamps and can be a bit spooky at times and rightly so with hundreds of Bigfoot sightings since 1965 and alligators swimming below its murky waters.  It’s an easy laid back way of life and I have never met people as nice and friendly as I have here.  It gets hot here but I could spend my life exploring this beautiful place called Caddo Lake and the Big Cypress Bayou.  There’s a different scene every time you turn a bend; I don’t think I have ever seen a more beautiful autumn with all the colors that graces its banks.

For those who know me I’m a night person, not a morning person.  It takes a lot to get me moving in the mornings, but when you go to bed at like 9 pm because it’s pitch dark in Bigfoot country….no computer to work on photos (that drove me a little crazy)…… a hound dog howling at 6 am because his owner has left for the day…..let’s not forget the train that sounded like it was coming through our tent…….oh yea and the morning wakeup call……I’ve got to pee and have to walk a freaking block to do it! No I’m not a morning person, but I so loved what I saw when I got up on those mornings.

It’s amazing what you see and hear in the early hours of the morning……another photographer canoeing in the backwaters trying to catch that special shot would wave as he paddle by……the early morning mist rising from the bayou……a Great Blue Heron trying his luck for a big catch at breakfast and the brilliant fall colors dripping with dew.  This was straight across camp and the first thing I saw when climbing out of our tent; maybe I will become a morning person.....I will just do it from my trailer from now on!  lol

Caddo Lake and the Big Cypress Bayou is a great place for fishing.  My hubby and our friends were loving it.  I made sure I was on the boat so I wouldn’t miss anything.  While we were anchored in a spot I kept looking back into this slough with all the beautiful colors.  While my other half was catching fish I was catching color!

It’s a first for me capturing the graceful Great Blue Heron.  They are all over this place!  It’s nothing to have one fly over and land not far from you…loved that!

I have to make these blog entries short and sweet.....I have a lot more to come, but for right now I am in the middle of working on portraits for some clients.......so stay tuned for more coming from my swamp adventure!
