Colorful Caddies

Brightly painted vintage cadillacs are partially buried in a field, displaying layers of vibrant graffiti. The backdrop is a clear blue sky, enhancing the stark contrast.

Cadillac Ranch: these 10 caddies are a ton of fun and have been since 1974! Located on Route 66, this roadside attraction was created by Chip Lord, Hudson Marquez and Dough Michels, who were a part of the art group Ant Farm. The interactive art piece is free to visit and has become a cultural icon, with visitors' painting adding new layers to the cars over the years. It’s amazing how thick the paint is on these cars! As you can see in some photos the visitors don’t stop with just painting the cars…. The road and the fence are colorful also even though there is a sign telling you it’s illegal to paint on that side of the fence!

Cadillac Ranch is located in Amarillo, Texas, just west of the city along the I-40 frontage road, which is also part of historic Route 66.
