Big Boy on Route 66

Some sights have a special way of taking us back in time, and this Big Boy statue brought back a wonderful piece of my childhood! Standing outside Cars of the Mother Road in Williams, Arizona, along historic Route 66, this familiar smiling face brought back memories of being a kid and getting to eat at the Big Boy restaurant. There was something special about those childhood outings, and seeing this larger-than-life character again brought a little of that magic back.

With his signature red-and-white checkered uniform, tall black hat, and hamburger held high, Big Boy is more than just a roadside attraction. He's a reminder of simpler times, family outings, and the classic American culture that helped shape the golden age of the automobile. Route 66 is full of nostalgic treasures, and sometimes the best discoveries are the ones that bring back memories we didn't even realize we were holding onto.

This photograph captures a slice of Americana where roadside icons, vintage charm, and personal memories come together. For me, this wasn't just a photograph of a statue — it was a little trip back to childhood!
