Nestled beneath the colorful slopes of Colorado's San Juan Mountains, the historic barns of the former Aldasoro Ranch stand as enduring reminders of Telluride's rich agricultural heritage. Located at the beginning of Last Dollar Road on the Telluride side, these beautifully preserved wooden barns rest on scenic Deep Creek Mesa overlooking the valley, where golden autumn aspens create a breathtaking backdrop.

The Aldasoro Ranch was established in the 1920s by brothers Joaquin and Serapio Aldasoro, Basque immigrants from Spain's Pyrenees who built a successful sheep ranch supplying wool and lamb to the booming mining camps throughout the region. The prominent Aldasoro Barn, constructed between 1929 and 1943, along with the remaining historic ranch structures, was added to the San Miguel County Historic Register in recognition of its importance in preserving Telluride's agricultural history and the legacy of the Basque sheepherders who helped shape the region during the early twentieth century.

Today, the original 1,550-acre ranch has evolved into the private Aldasoro Ranch residential community, where thoughtfully planned homesites are surrounded by more than 620 acres of permanently protected open space, ensuring these iconic barns remain part of the landscape for generations to come.
