Taken during the first week of November, at the peak of fall color, this photograph captures two magnificent bald cypress trees standing together in the open waters of Caddo Lake. We had navigated our way out into the lake, leaving the more familiar waterways behind, until we found ourselves surrounded by an incredible expanse of water, trees, and autumn color.

The cypress seemed to rise from the lake like ancient sentinels, their weathered trunks and graceful branches reflected among the lily pads and still water. With the brilliant colors of autumn spread across the landscape, it was one of those moments when the journey itself became part of the photograph.

Caddo Lake is a place of mystery, beauty, and quiet wonder. Out among its winding waterways and ancient cypress, it's easy to imagine how many seasons these trees have witnessed. This image is a celebration of that timeless beauty—a glimpse of Caddo Lake at one of its most spectacular moments.
